Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed admiration for Bukayo Saka as the talented player prepares to mark his 200th appearance for the Gunners. Saka, who made his debut at the age of 17 in January 2019, is on the verge of reaching the milestone when Arsenal faces Luton Town in the Premier League.
Should he feature as anticipated, Saka will become the youngest player to achieve this milestone for Arsenal since Cesc Fabregas. Arteta, commenting on Saka’s achievement, remarked, “That’s not bad at his age! It’s gone really fast but it shows again the consistency and the availability that he has had over the last few years. It has been tremendous, and the impact that he’s had in the team has been really positive.”
Arteta compared Saka’s growth to that of a child evolving, maturing, and maintaining humility. He acknowledged the influence of the academy staff in shaping Saka’s development and emphasized the player’s special qualities. As Saka’s career is still in its early stages, Arteta believes there are no limits to what the future holds for the star forward. He noted, “At the moment, no because he hasn’t got any limits and he wants more, and the people around him want more. His teammates are having a better understanding of what he needs as well. He has coaches, staff, and a club that wants to push him to become better. I think it’s a good context for him to keep growing.”
Among the current squad, Mohamed Elneny follows Saka in terms of Arsenal appearances with 158, while Eddie Nketiah (151), Gabriel Martinelli (147), and Gabriel Magalhaes (138) are closely behind.
