One of the main factors in Liverpool’s current position and recent success under Jurgen Klopp is Michael Edwards. Edwards was Liverpool’s sporting director, and he is responsible for the club’s excellent management.

To relieve Todd Boehly of the duties he has had to take on since taking over the club, Chelsea is looking for a new sporting director. The club is still looking for a sporting director even though Christopher Vivell is expected to take over as the new technical director.

According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea and Michael Edwards are now in talks about the potential of Edwards being the club’s new sporting director in the near future.

Tod Boehly has no problem continuing in the position through January while the club looks for a replacement. However, a replacement is definitely needed as Boehly does not have the highest level of expertise in the field.

Chelsea will have noticed Edwards’ outstanding work at Liverpool, where he managed an almost flawless business model in terms of net spending. However, given the amount of money Chelsea plans to spend on strengthening the squad, they will need to find a way to make up for that expenditure.

If Chelsea makes a formal approach in the upcoming months, Michael Edwards might be the guy and end up as their new sporting director.
