After initial negotiations, PSG and Messi were unable to reach an agreement on a new deal.

The first face-to-face negotiations for Lionel Messi’s contract renewal with PSG failed, but it doesn’t appear that those discussions will be the last.

It simply indicates that there isn’t going to be an announcement as of the time we wrote this. After numerous online discussions, Jorge Messi and Luis Campos, the club’s sporting director, finally met in person. However, there was no agreement reached during that initial encounter.

Due to Messi’s contract renewal being unable to be completed prior to the World Cup in Qatar, it was challenging to come to a timely agreement.

Because of this, Luis Campos and Jorge Messi, who were ‘in situ’ at Tuesday’s loss to Bayern, were unable to come to an understanding during their initial meeting.

Messi was presented with a one-year extension by PSG today, but staying in Paris is still important to him. It is the only offer he has received from a team in professional football, not Barcelona or any elite club.

Thus, it follows that additional meetings will be required soon and that the renewal will not be as simple to complete as the club had hoped to portray it at the initial meeting.
