Yetunde Wunmi was born on February 22, 1960, in the Egbado and Ibadan areas of Oyo, Nigeria, and grew up there. Mr. Surakat Akinwande and Mrs. Olufunke Sabainat Akinwande are his parents.

Yetunde Wunmi began her acting career in the 1980s when she joined the popular serial opera Feyikogbon. She went on to perform in over 50 films and had countless television appearances before being arrested for possession of a hard drug (cocaine) at an airport in 2006.
