Honesty Godwin, a young and gifted man from Nigeria in West Africa, has created an electric wheelchair with an automatic obstacle avoidance system. Godwin claims that the wheelchair can be folded and is made to enable impaired persons to move around independently.

In order to control the impaired person’s movement and direction, the wheelchair is built with a joystick at the handle. It also incorporates ultrasonic sensors to ensure four-axis obstacle detection and avoidance to avoid potholes and slopes. The wheelchair also has an easy-to-use knob on the rear that can be used to fold and unfold it, which will lower its overall size by 70%.

Such a device takes a significant investment in terms of time, effort, patience, and money. Godwin, though, assembled his gadget using the components that were on hand. Godwin had to build his wheelchair from scratch using garbage and local items due to his love for problem-solving.

The young robotics developer appealed to some of the biggest and most successful businesspeople on the continent, including Tony O. Elumelu, to invest in him so that he might go beyond what he has already accomplished. He added that it would be wonderful to have the chance to collaborate and work with Nigeria’s largest automaker, Innoson Vehicles, since this would allow him to produce his wheelchair in large quantities and further improve it.
