Returning to school to further your education while enjoying popularity and a successful profession is undoubtedly a difficult choice. However, some well-known Nigerians have demonstrated that it is never too late to go back to school.
These celebrities had to juggle their jobs with their academic obligations, and some even withdrew from public view to concentrate on their studies.
Here are five Nollywood actors that finished their education after achieving fame.
Odunlade Adekola
The well-known actor, who was born in Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State and raised in Abeokuta, Ogun State, started acting in 1996, the same year he joined the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners. He is originally from Otun Ekiti, Ekiti State. He became well-known after playing the lead in Asiri Gomina Wa, a 2003 movie by Ishola Durojaye, and has since acted in a number of Nollywood productions.

Adekola went back to school and graduated from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in May 2018.
Kanayo .O .Kanayo
Everyone was taken aback when Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, also known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, stated that he would be returning to class.
In 1992’s Living in Bondage, Kanayo appeared in his first movie for the first time. But the seasoned performer who took home the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role went back to school to pursue a law degree.
In one of the posts shared in 2017, he wrote: “Hello People, For the love of you, I owe you the notice that I have resumed classes in school, the University of Abuja. Just finished with morning lecture, Law of Evidence, and on standby for Equity 2-4 pm. #overandout”
He announced his graduation from UNIABUJA with a degree in Law in 2019.
Muyiwa Ademola
Muyiwa Ademola, a producer and director of motion pictures, filmed his debut film in 1997.
At the first Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2005, his movie Ori took home the prize for best indigenous picture. He received a nomination for Most Outstanding Indigenous Actor at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008.
However, after filming three movies, Ademola went back to the University of Ibadan to get a diploma in adult education and community development.
Chioma Akpotha
Chioma Chukwuka made her acting debut in the 2000 film “The Apple,” which marked the start of her career. For the film Sins of the Fleshm, she won the “Best Actress in a Lead Role” prize at the 2007 African Movie Academy Awards.
2018 saw Akpotha return to school to pursue a Business in Film degree at the School of Media and Communications at Pan Atlantic University.
Ufuoma McDermott
In 2018, Ufuoma studied Business in Film at the Pan Atlantic University School of Media and Communications, just like Chioma Akpotha. The actress tweeted a photo of herself in a blue trouser suit at the building’s door to social media to share the news.
The talented actress was born in Edo State on April 23, 1981. She was nominated for best actress at both the Terracotta Nigerian TV and Film Awards as well as the 2010 Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo for her work in the 2008 television series “My Mum and I.”
