In an interview with RMC radio, Mbappe revealed, “I said at the end of July that I wanted to go.”

โ€œI’ve made it plain what my position is. I expressed my want to depart and informed them (PSG management) early on.โ€

The French World Cup winner’s contract at PSG has not been extended, fueling talk that he would leave for Real Madrid at the conclusion of the season.

The Spanish giants made an offer of 180 million euros ($209 million) for Mbappe in August, but PSG turned it down because they had just signed Lionel Messi from Barcelona.

PSG’s sporting director Leonardo remarked at the time that Mbappe could “leave or stay on our terms.”

Mbappe claimed that he eventually informed PSG that “if you don’t want me to leave, I’ll stay.”

โ€œIt was reported that I had turned down six or seven offers to extend my contract and that I never spoke to Leonardo, which is completely false,โ€ he continued.

Mbappe, who joined PSG in 2017 for a total of 180 million euros from Monaco, said he volunteered to leave the club in July to allow PSG to find “a quality replacement.”

He stated, “I wanted everyone to be in a win-win position.”

โ€œParis is a club that has given me a lot, and I’ve always been happy here for the four years I’ve been here, and I continue to be happy.โ€
