Chelsea’s head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has acknowledged his admiration for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. As the Blues prepare to face the Red Devils on Wednesday in a bid to revive their respective struggling seasons, Pochettino shared his thoughts on Garnacho, a compatriot who recently earned a spot in the Argentina senior team.

The young winger had previously made a name for himself in Spain before joining Manchester United.

Garnacho, born and raised in Spain, chose to represent Argentina, eligible through his mother. His journey from youth ranks at Getafe and Atletico Madrid led him to Manchester United in 2020.

Pochettino, who holds Spanish citizenship due to his extensive tenure at Espanyol as both player and manager, highlighted the intriguing contrast between his background and Garnacho’s. Despite his Argentinian-Spanish identity, Pochettino’s excitement lies in the diversity of players like Garnacho contributing to national teams, a sentiment he looks forward to witnessing on the field.
