In response to the taunts and criticism during the post-match press conference, Pochettino asked the Stamford Bridge faithful to continue supporting the team, saying, “What we can say, apologize to the fans.”
Acknowledging the gap between perception and reality, Pochettino stated, “The perception is that Chelsea should be in a different position, but the circumstance, we are not there. Maybe we are not good enough. It’s the most important thing now to feel the responsibility and, of course, the organization and the players that we have. To understand the fans is really important.”
Expressing disappointment and apologizing, Pochettino emphasized the need for collective effort and support, stating, “You must cooperate during the allotted ninety minutes, and if the performance is subpar, they have the right and the capacity to criticize or become enraged.”
He thanked the fans for their support, acknowledged the challenges, and called for resilience, saying, “To be in this business, in this type of club, you need to be strong. We have the energy and the capacity to move on.”
