Matthijs de Ligt has dismissed rumors suggesting his discontent at Bayern Munich and any potential departure this summer.
Previous reports had indicated De Ligt’s frustration with his playing role under Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel after a period out of the starting lineup, with Arsenal and Manchester United mentioned as interested parties.
However, De Ligt has refuted these claims, affirming to Dutch media outlet Voetbal International that he has no intention of leaving the club in the foreseeable future.

“When I’m not playing, speculation arises immediately suggesting I’m unhappy and looking to leave,” he stated. “Certainly, there have been games where I’ve wanted to be on the field, but overall, I have no reason to complain.
“I’m thoroughly enjoying my time at Bayern Munich and have recently reclaimed my spot in the lineup. I don’t allow rumors to affect me because I understand the reality.”
Reflecting on his recent performances, De Ligt added, “I’ve started ten of the last 12 matches and feel myself improving physically and technically, which is gratifying. Beginning the season with an injury was frustrating, and it took time to regain fitness. Subsequently, I faced stiff competition within the squad, which is typical at a club like Bayern Munich.”
Acknowledging the club’s depth in talent, De Ligt emphasized the need for patience and persistence, particularly when overcoming injuries.
“Since January, I’ve been fully fit. I feel confident, have cemented my place in the starting lineup, and am delivering my best performances,” he concluded.
While Bayern may still be in the market for a new center-back, recent reports indicate a shift in priorities, suggesting a less pressing need for reinforcements in defense.
