According to express.co, Mason Greenwood is being advocated for a second opportunity at Manchester United once he concludes his season-long loan at Getafe. Ian Storey-Moore, a former Red Devils winger, supports Greenwood’s return to Old Trafford despite the club’s earlier reversal in the summer.
In February, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior against the 22-year-old forward, allegations he consistently denied. Following a six-month internal inquiry into his 2022 arrest, The Athletic reported that United’s CEO, Richard Arnold, had communicated plans to reintegrate Greenwood. Football director John Murtough and manager Erik ten Hag reportedly endorsed this stance. However, threats of staff striking and external criticism are said to have caused a late change in direction.
This resulted in Greenwood joining La Liga side Getafe on loan until next summer, with one year remaining on his United contract. The former No 11 for United is enjoying his time in Spain and is gradually rediscovering the goal-scoring form that marked him as one of Europe’s most promising young attackers after his senior breakthrough in 2019.

United’s reported stance remains unchanged, indicating they do not anticipate Greenwood representing the club after his loan at Getafe concludes. However, Storey-Moore believes he should return to Old Trafford next season to bolster Ten Hag’s struggling attacking unit.
“Everybody deserves a second chance. He has served his time, so to speak, and they should possibly let him back in next season,” Storey-Moore told Express Sport. “He’s an asset, isn’t he? I think he’s better than what they’ve got when he’s at his best, absolutely.”
With Marcus Rashford’s goal in a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal in September being the only Premier League goal scored by a United forward this season, Ten Hag’s team has managed just 13 goals in 12 league matches, a modest tally only surpassed by six other teams.
