Manchester United has reportedly reached out to Bayern Munich regarding the potential acquisition of striker Mathys Tel, as per a German report.
Tel, set to turn 19 in April, is in his second season with Bayern since joining from Rennes in 2022. Despite limited appearances in Bavaria, he has attracted attention from clubs across Europe.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Manchester United has made contact with Bayern about the availability of the Frenchman. Two other unnamed Premier League clubs have also recently inquired about Tel.

United’s pursuit of a new forward has been publicly acknowledged, with manager Erik ten Hag expressing frustration over the lack of funds for such a signing in January. Tel is reportedly on their list of options for the upcoming transfer window.
Interestingly, Manchester United held talks with Tottenham Hotspur last summer regarding Harry Kane before his eventual move to Bayern.
However, the report notes that Tel is determined to stay and compete for his place at Bayern, aspiring to become a club legend. Bayern, while planning to sign a new striker to replace Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting this summer, sees Tel as part of their future.
Capable of playing across the frontline, Tel has contributed six goals and three assists in 27 games across all competitions for Bayern this season, with most appearances coming off the bench. Notably, he scored in Bayern’s 4-3 win against Manchester United in the Champions League group stages in September.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Manchester United’s new shareholders INEOS are actively identifying positions to strengthen in the upcoming summer overhaul, with a focus on an experienced striker. They have also endorsed United’s pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.
