Manchester United legend and former French national team captain Patrice Evra has been sentenced to 12 months in prison with a suspended probation in France.

According to Olt Sports, Evra was convicted of family abandonment and is facing unpaid alimony totaling nearly โ‚ฌ1 million.

Evra, celebrated for his illustrious career with Manchester United where he won 14 trophies, including five Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League, also had a distinguished international career with France. He represented his country in five major tournaments, including the UEFA European Championships and FIFA World Cup.
