Greenwood, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Getafe in La Liga, was not reintegrated into Manchester United’s first-team following fan protests. The 22-year-old had faced suspension from United in January 2022 due to allegations that were later dropped in February 2023.

With his loan now ending, Greenwood’s future appears to be away from Old Trafford. Several clubs, including Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund, have shown interest in signing him. Getafe has also expressed interest in re-signing him for the 2024/25 season.

Lazio is the latest club to express interest in Greenwood, with talks reportedly progressing positively for a potential £30 million deal. Discussions may include performance-related add-ons to increase the transfer fee.

Despite Getafe’s interest in his return, Greenwood recently indicated on social media that he is unlikely to go back, thanking the club and its fans for a memorable season.
