Manchester United have emerged as contenders for Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye, with reports suggesting a potential big-money move for the 19-year-old.
Faye, who joined Barcelona’s ranks last summer, has predominantly featured in the academy setup. However, he did secure a place on the bench during Barcelona’s 1-0 victory over Mallorca earlier in March. Despite not yet making his debut for the first team, Faye has already earned his senior international debut for Senegal.
According to the Daily Mail, United has taken notice of Faye’s development and views him as a cost-effective alternative to other defensive targets like Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite or Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

While Barcelona rejected offers of £13 million from French clubs Nice and Lens in January, they may consider a transfer fee of £25 million to part ways with Faye this summer.
Bayer Leverkusen and Inter are also reportedly interested in securing Faye’s services, with Bayer particularly eager to finalize a deal before the summer transfer window opens. This is seen as a move to persuade their sought-after manager, Xabi Alonso, to remain at the club amidst interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
For Manchester United, signing a new centre-back is a priority, and they have compiled an extensive list of targets, including Branthwaite and Todibo. However, they are keen on securing a deal that aligns with their financial objectives.
