Luke Shaw has endured another injury setback and will miss Manchester United’s Premier League match against Arsenal on Wednesday.
The left-back recently returned to action in November, featuring under new manager Ruben Amorim after missing the start of the 2024/25 campaign due to injury. Shaw made his season debut against Ipswich Town and later appeared in league matches against Everton and Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League. However, his progress has been halted by another injury, sending him back to the treatment room.
Shaw addressed the setback in an emotional social media post on Tuesday evening.

“Hi guys, it’s hurting a lot having to write this,” Shaw admitted. “I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forward, but unfortunately, I’ve had a small setback.
“I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs, but this has definitely been my toughest period. I’m absolutely devastated, and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.
“I understand there are going to be people frustrated, angry, and disappointed, and I completely understand that. No one feels that more than I do right now. But I promise to do everything I can to come back better and help this club achieve its ambitions this season.
“Thank you to everyone for the support. It really doesn’t go unnoticed, and I truly appreciate it.”
With Shaw sidelined, Harry Maguire is expected to step in for Wednesday’s crucial Premier League encounter with Arsenal.
