Manchester United are reportedly considering Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios as an alternative to Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte, should Casemiro depart this summer. Although no formal offer has been lodged for the Colombian international, who impressed during the Copa America, United have made inquiries, as per Goal Brasil via Football Transfers. AC Milan is also monitoring the 24-year-old.

United is prepared to offer around €20 million for Rios, but Palmeiras is reluctant to part ways with him easily. According to an unnamed source, “The club will not negotiate with Rios in this window,” indicating Palmeiras’ stance on the matter.

Now we need to focus on alternatives on the field.” The Brazilian club has already sold Luis Guilherme to West Ham and Willian Estevao to Chelsea this summer, with Endrick’s departure to Real Madrid also finalized last year.

Rios played a pivotal role for Colombia during their runner-up finish at the Copa America. He is a defensively oriented midfielder with a box-to-box profile similar to Ugarte, although not as polished in possession as Casemiro.
