Arne Slot is preparing for his first pre-season as Liverpool manager, having succeeded the long-serving Jurgen Klopp. The Dutchman has big shoes to fill, with Klopp having secured nearly every major trophy during his nine-year tenure at Anfield, including the 2019 Champions League and the club’s first Premier League title in 30 years.

One of Slot’s initial tasks will be addressing the future of Reds shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher. Reports suggest Kelleher is eager to join another Premier League club this summer. According to Football Insider, the 25-year-old is pushing for a move away from Anfield to become a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere.

Celtic has shown interest in the Ireland international following Joe Hart’s retirement. However, meeting Liverpool’s valuation for Kelleher might prove challenging for the Scottish club. Football Insider also claims that Kelleher prefers staying within the Premier League after showcasing his talents during his opportunities at Liverpool.

Kelleher made 26 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool in the 2023-24 season, including ten Premier League matches due to an injury to Alisson Becker. He kept five clean sheets and conceded 32 goals during these outings.

The Cork-born goalkeeper joined Liverpool from Ringmahon in 2015 and has risen through the youth ranks to become Alisson’s backup. He is under contract at Anfield until June 2026.
