“Liverpool Football Club unequivocally condemns the actions that resulted in damage to the Manchester United team bus during its arrival at Anfield this afternoon.

“We are aware of footage of the incident circulating online and are cooperating with Merseyside Police to thoroughly investigate and identify those responsible.

“Any individuals found guilty of this reprehensible behavior will also face the full consequences of the club’s disciplinary process.”

The unfortunate event took place before the rather uneventful 0-0 draw between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday. As a result, Liverpool slipped to second place in the Premier League table, trailing new leaders Arsenal by one point following their 2-0 triumph over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium earlier that afternoon.

A high-stakes clash awaits, as Liverpool and Arsenal are scheduled to compete in a potential early title-deciding match at Anfield on Saturday, December 23.
