Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to withdraw from England’s squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Greece and the Republic of Ireland due to a hamstring injury and is now a doubt for Liverpool’s matches following the international break.

The Liverpool defender was forced off just 25 minutes into his side’s 2-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa at the weekend, after experiencing discomfort in his hamstring. He was replaced by Conor Bradley, with Liverpool extending their lead at the top of the table to five points.

According to The Times, Alexander-Arnold had already been managing a minor strain sustained during his previous international duty last month, and Liverpool are reluctant to take any further risks. The injury is expected to keep him sidelined for a couple of weeks, ruling him out of the November internationals and leaving his availability for Liverpoolโ€™s post-break fixtures against Southampton uncertain.

Additionally, Liverpool will face key matches against Real Madrid in the Champions League on November 27 and Manchester City in the Premier League on December 1. Even if Alexander-Arnold is fit by then, concerns about his match fitness could linger.

The 26-year-old endured knee and hamstring issues last season, and while his performances at the start of this campaign have been strong, he was dropped by England after a disappointing Euro 2024. Nevertheless, he has started every league and European game this season, helping Liverpool win 14 of their first 15 matches.

Off the pitch, Alexander-Arnoldโ€™s future remains uncertain, with his contract expiring in June 2025. Speculation is growing about a potential move to Real Madrid, with reports in Spain suggesting that he is interested in such a transfer. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has also expressed concern, noting Alexander-Arnold’s publicly stated ambition to win the Ballon d’Or, which could influence his future decisions.
