In the early kickoff, Manchester City’s win over Everton increased the pressure on Liverpool to secure three points against Burnley. The visitors, struggling in the relegation zone, aimed to upset Liverpool at Anfield.

Vincent Kompany’s team displayed confidence, with Caoimhin Kelleher making key saves early on, denying Zeki Amdouni in the first ten minutes. Despite a lackluster first half-hour from the hosts, Liverpool took the lead when Jota capitalized on a misjudged corner by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

James Trafford redeemed himself with a fine save from Diaz’s close-range attempt, keeping Burnley in the game. O’Shea’s impressive header just before halftime leveled the score, reflecting Burnley’s commendable performance.

Liverpool dominated the early stages of the second half, swiftly restoring their lead through Diaz’s header after a VAR check. Burnley had opportunities to equalize, with Kelleher making a crucial save from David Datro Fofana. Fofana missed another chance, curling his shot wide, and Liverpool’s Jota and Quansah came close to a third goal.

With just over ten minutes remaining, Nunez sealed the victory with a delicate header from Harvey Elliott’s delivery. Although not a stellar performance, Liverpool secured the win and reclaimed the top spot in the league.
