Although Southampton continued to dominate in the second half, Liverpool maintained control, and the introduction of Ibrahima Konate helped contain Southampton’s attacks. Danns, coming off the bench, scored the second goal, and he added another late in the game after reacting quickly to a saved effort from Conor Bradley.
While the scoreline may seem harsh on Southampton, who impressed throughout the contest, they were unable to find the back of the net despite their significant efforts.
