The superstar of Paris Saint-Germain is preparing for his final World Cup and hopes for a fairytale conclusion, but there will be fierce competition because 32 countries have their eyes on the prize.
Argentina is one of the favorites to win in Qatar, and Messi will be rooting for his nation to add a first World Cup victory since 1986.

Prior to the competition, Messi claimed that Brazil, France, and England were “a touch above the rest.”
“Whenever we talk about candidates, we usually talk about the same clubs,” he said in a statement to the CONMEBOL South American Federation.
“If I were to rank some countries over others, I would say Brazil, France, and England are slightly superior.
But anything may happen since the World Cup is so challenging and intricate.
Additionally, before of his team’s opening encounter against Saudi Arabia, Messi emphasized his excitement.
“We are really excited,” the 35-year-old continued. We have a lovely group that is enthusiastic, but we consider moving cautiously.
“We want to get the World Cup off to the best possible start so we can handle whatever comes afterwards.
“You get to know each other more as you play and spend more time together on the field.”
Messi started and scored one of Argentina’s five goals during their pre-tournament friendly match against the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi. As they finished 5-0 winners, Julian Alvarez, Angel Di Maria, and Joaquin Correa all contributed goals. It was the ideal lead-up to the World Cup.
Argentina and England can only face off in the championship game if both teams win their respective groups. Messi will play in his 1000th game of his illustrious career if Argentina advances to the final.
