Recent Leicester City updates from LeicestershireLive indicate Napoli’s interest in Boubakary Soumare. The French midfielder, currently on loan at Sevilla from Leicester City for the season, has caught the attention of the Italian Serie A champions.

Soumare, who joined La Liga side Sevilla on a season-long loan with an option to buy during the summer transfer window, had previously played 59 times for Leicester City and remains under contract with the Foxes until 2026.

Reports from Il Mattino, as relayed by CalcioNapoli24, suggest that Napoli is keen on securing Soumare’s services during the upcoming January transfer window. The interest arises from Napoli’s search for another holding midfielder, especially with Andre Zambo Anguissa set to represent Cameroon in the African Cup of Nations in January. Soumare is reportedly considered “top of their list.”

However, a potential obstacle in the transfer could be Leicester’s need to terminate Soumare’s loan deal with Sevilla prematurely. The 24-year-old midfielder has made 14 appearances for the Spanish club in the current season.

Napoli’s interest in Soumare has been hinted at previously, with Sevilla chief Victor Orta revealing in September that they had secured Soumare’s signature despite interest from Italian champions playing in the Champions League.
