Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly warned Marco Asensio that he would regret leaving the club before the Spanish attacker departed the Santiago Bernabeu last year, according to Real Madrid Confidencial.

Asensio exited the Champions League and La Liga champions in the summer of 2023, joining PSG on a free transfer. The midfielder initially signed with Real Madrid in 2015 and spent a season on loan at Espanyol before establishing himself in the squad.

Despite his contributions, Asensio struggled to secure a consistent spot in the starting XI, prompting his desire for a move after his contract expired. While Real Madrid’s management reportedly attempted to extend his stay with a new deal, Asensio chose to join PSG.

Real Madrid Confidencial reports that Perez cautioned him, saying, “If you leave, you will regret it.”
