Although he has fallen to the periphery of the team under manager Xavi, Barca is eager to see him leave because he earns the most money in the group.

The Catalan giants must reduce their payroll as they continue to struggle financially following a summer of extravagant expenditure.

If Pique participates in less than 35% of games this season, Barcelona will have the option of ending his contract one year early, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The club will probably play between 50 and 55 games this season, including league games, domestic cup competitions, and European competitions.

This means that if Barcelona wants to let Pique leave in the summer of 2019, he can only play 19 times.

The 35-year-old has only played once in La Liga, against Cadiz, and once in the Champions League, against Viktoria Plzen, coming on as a halftime substitute.

Recall that After Barcelona’s 2-0 Champions League loss to Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski quickly fled the Allianz Arena.

On his first night back in Germany, Lewandowski had a terrible time as Bayern went to the top of Group C thanks to goals from Leroy Sane and Lucas Hernandez.

The Poland striker just departed the Bundesliga champions for Barcelona this summer for a cost of €50 million (£42.5 million).
