Reports indicate that Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has engaged in discussions to clear the air with Kylian Mbappe. This comes in the wake of Enrique substituting the star forward during a 0-0 draw with Monaco, following Mbappe’s announcement of his intention to leave PSG when his contract expires in June.

Despite persistent rumors linking Mbappe to Real Madrid on a lucrative five-year deal, tensions between the player and manager seem to have risen. Enrique, possibly preparing for a future without Mbappe, made tactical decisions such as not starting him in a recent win over Nantes and substituting him in two other matches.

After the Monaco game, Mbappe added to the controversy by changing and heading to the stands to join his representatives instead of staying on the bench with the team. In response to Mbappe’s dissatisfaction with his role, Enrique reportedly clarified in their talks that the decisions were based on tactical considerations and not as a form of retribution for the impending departure.

Enrique has publicly emphasized the need for PSG to adapt to life without Mbappe, acknowledging the importance of evolving as a club. He stated, “Sooner or later, we will play without Mbappe, so I’m looking for the best option for the team. I will do what is best for my team. I don’t want to create controversy; it’s my decision.”
