This cinematic debut, presented by Brampton Productions in collaboration with RevAnuli Inc., is set to premiere in Lagos before hitting cinemas nationwide starting November 10, 2023. The film was both written and produced by Anuli Ajagu, a Nigerian-Canadian visionary who serves as the CEO of Brampton Productions and is the founder of RevAnuli Inc.
Directed by the US-based talent Obi Martins, the movie delves into the intricate dynamics of mental and emotional trauma. Set in Nigeria, it emphasizes the significance of seeking professional assistance, as well as the therapeutic potential of taking responsibility, counseling, faith, courage, and forgiveness, ultimately leading to healing and restoration for wounded souls.

“Praise Party” unravels the complex facets of Tobe Thompson’s (portrayed by Kunle Remi) narcissistic behavior toward his wife, Zara Thompson (played by Bayray Nwizu), highlighting the impact of unresolved childhood trauma, privilege, and injustice.
Zara’s character endures severe emotional abuse and societal stigmatization resulting from a broken marriage and infertility. Through this compelling narrative, the film sheds light on the genuine issues that many African families grapple with but often choose to ignore.

On July 8, 2023, “Praise Party” clinched the prestigious “Best International Film” award at the Charlotte Black Film Festival in North Carolina. It also secured an official selection spot and was screened at the Canada China International Film Festival (CCIFF) opening weekend on July 15, 2023, in Montreal, Canada. On August 31, at the CCIFF closing gala awards in Montreal, Anuli Ajagu was honored as the “Best Producer” for the film “Praise Party.”
Anuli Ajagu initially graced Nigerian television screens in the 1990s, captivating audiences with her portrayal of Gloria in the hit soap opera, “Fortunes.” Sharing the stage with luminaries like Ramsey Nouah, Regina Askia, and Liz Benson, Anuli established herself as a talented thespian. She holds a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos, where she graduated in 1991, with a primary focus on playwriting. She also holds a master’s degree in Mass Communication and a postgraduate diploma in journalism. Currently, she is a doctoral student at Royal Roads University in British Columbia, Canada.
