The appeal against the election of All Progressives Congress candidate Inuwa Yahaya as governor of Gombe State, filed by the Action Democratic Congress and its candidate Nafiu Bala, was denied by the Supreme Court.
This comes as the highest court scheduled a Friday ruling in the appeal against the governor that Muhammad Barde of the People’s Democratic Party filed.
The Gombe governor’s election was upheld by the Court of Appeal in Abuja as well as the Election Petition Tribunal.

The two parties and their candidates went to the highest court because they were dissatisfied with the decisions made by the lower courts.
Herbert Nwoye, the ADC candidate’s attorney, refuted allegations made during the hearing on Wednesday that his brief was not completed within the allotted time limit.
Due to the public holiday of the new year, he demanded that his brief be filed on January 2. He also stated that he received the appellant’s procedures on December 29.
The five-member panel’s leader, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, stated that he had until December 31 to submit his brief.
The ADC candidate, according to the judge, received roughly 1,000 votes, but it was attempting to overburden the court with its argument.
“You cannot file a frivolous appeal in court. The judge remarked, “I believe you should not waste our time.”
On the other hand, Judge Kekere-Ekun instructed attorneys to counsel their clients on matters they present in court.
Nwoye then made the decision to revoke his appeal.
The appeal was denied by Justice Kekere-Ekun.
After hearing both sides of the PDP’s case, the panel decided to postpone till Friday.
