After her senior colleague, Tope Alabi, disparaged her popular song “Oniduro,” Yinka gained further notoriety in the entertainment industry.

In the end, Tope Alabi acknowledged that she had erred in publicly criticising Toluwalase Adelegan, a fellow performer who sung the popular gospel song “oniduro mi.”

Another gospel artist from Nigeria named Adeyinka Alaseyori remixed the song and made it more well-known.

After a video of Tope Alabi criticising the songs of a fellow gospel musician who called God “Oniduro Mi,” which translates to “My Guarantor” in English, went viral, she came under criticism.

The singer in the viral video criticised the word “oniduro,” asserting that God was more to her than “Oniduro,” and vowed never to perform the song again, despite her liking it.

Alabi claims that there was a period when she wanted to sing the hymn to glorify God, but the Holy Spirit forbade her from doing so.

Evangelist Alabi has now apologised for her prior statement, admitting that she erred by externalising a personal message. Her position on the song had sparked a great deal of criticism and condemnation from Nigerians.

She stated that the dispute had been resolved peacefully and that the singer of the song, Evangelist Adelegan, is her daughter who works in the ministry.
