Jose Mourinho is reportedly eager for the opportunity to return for a third stint as Chelsea manager, according to a recent report.
Current Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is facing significant pressure as his team has dropped back into the bottom half of the Premier League table. After Chelsea’s 4-2 defeat to Wolves over the weekend, some fans inside Stamford Bridge were heard chanting Mourinho’s name.
Mourinho, who is currently without a coaching position after departing Roma in January, has expressed his fondness for Chelsea since leaving England. The Daily Mail reports that he would “love” to return to Stamford Bridge once again.

Aside from his enduring connection to the club, Mourinho would welcome a return to Chelsea for personal reasons. His family home is located just 200 meters from Stamford Bridge, and it is understood that his children still reside in London with his wife.
Given these personal ties, a return to Chelsea holds appeal for Mourinho. However, it remains uncertain whether owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali will maintain their faith in Pochettino, who claimed to have received a positive message of support from the owners after the recent loss to Wolves.
Mourinho’s first tenure with Chelsea began in 2004, marking the start of the Roman Abramovich era. He secured two Premier League titles with the Blues before departing in 2007 due to disagreements with the then-owner. After successful managerial spells with Inter and Real Madrid, Mourinho returned to Chelsea in 2013. During his second stint, he clinched one more Premier League title before leaving in late 2015.
Since managing Chelsea, Mourinho has had managerial roles at both Manchester United and Tottenham. However, his affection for Chelsea has been evident, describing the club as “my Chelsea” in an interview with Sky Sports last summer. Mourinho stated, “Chelsea will always be Chelsea,” emphasizing his deep connection to the club.
