Jose Fonte believes Jadon Sancho could be given a fresh opportunity at Manchester United next summer, particularly as the club prepares to enter a new era under Ruben Amorim, according to Football.London.

Erik ten Hag was dismissed last month following a poor start to the 2024/25 season, paving the way for Amorim, who is expected to take charge after the international break. His first match as United manager will be against Ipswich Town.

Sancho, currently on loan at Chelsea, has found form at Stamford Bridge. His loan agreement includes a clause requiring Chelsea to make the move permanent if they finish in the Premier League’s top 14 this season. Should that condition be met, Chelsea will pay Manchester United around £20 million, with potential add-ons raising the fee to £25 million based on Sancho’s performances.

However, former Southampton and West Ham defender Jose Fonte suggests that if Chelsea fails to meet the terms, Sancho could return to United, where Amorim might offer him a “fresh start.”

“Jadon Sancho will get a chance to impress Ruben Amorim in the summer because it’s a new chapter and an opportunity for everyone,” Fonte stated. “Amorim knows exactly what he wants from his players, and he gives creative freedom to No.10s, which is exactly what Sancho needs. It could be the perfect environment for him.”

Sancho has had a promising start at Chelsea, contributing key assists in games against Bournemouth, West Ham, and Brighton. Despite a recent injury setback and some quieter performances, he appears to be adapting well to Enzo Maresca’s system at Stamford Bridge.
