Jadon Sancho has expressed his delight at returning to Borussia Dortmund, describing it as a “dream” and an opportunity to reignite his career. The winger recently left Manchester United on a six-month loan to Dortmund, and notably, the deal does not include a purchase clause.
In an interview with club media, Sancho shared his excitement, saying, “Very good to be back. Dortmund is home to me. Making my debut here in professional football, it’s always been a dream for me, so I’m happy to be back. Can’t wait to get started. Of course [I’m buzzing]. Can’t wait to get started.”
When asked about choosing Dortmund, Sancho explained, “I believe it’s due to the fact that, connecting with the fans, conversations with Edin [Terzic], Sebastian [Kehl], [Hans-Joachim] Watzke, Marco [Reus], and a few other players…I feel like it was the right decision for me.”

Notably, Manchester United opted not to include a purchase clause in the loan deal with Dortmund. Instead, they hope Sancho’s performance will increase his transfer value before making a final decision on his future in the summer window.
Sancho’s temporary move aligns with Manchester United’s focus on streamlining their squad during the January transfer window. The club aims to prioritize departures and will consider reinforcing the team under Erik ten Hag only if sufficient funds can be generated through player sales.
While a new forward is on their radar, it is likely to be a cost-effective addition. The club explored options such as Timo Werner, who ultimately joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Bayern Munich is among the potential targets.
