Ufuoma McDermott, a popular Nollywood actress, has reacted to Rwanda’s Ministry of Local Government’s (MINALOC) recent decision to outlaw the Adhan (midnight Muslim call to prayer).
The restriction was enacted in response to public complaints about noise pollution.
The practice of mounting loudspeakers atop mosque minarets began in Asia in the 1930s and quickly expanded around the world. Every day, five calls are made to call the faithful to their five daily prayers.

Rwandan authorities say that residents had complained about the earliest call to prayer – which happens between 04:30 and 04:49 and lasts about two or three minutes.
Reacting to this Ufuoma McDermott via a blog’s comment section says it is welcome development and good for all, as the government had also banned similar call for prayers by Christians.
She wrote: “he has already done it (banning that of Christians)…and it is a welcomed development for all.”
