Had Ipswich faltered, Leeds had a chance to overtake them with a win against Southampton. However, Leeds now find themselves in the playoffs.

Under the guidance of former Manchester United first-team coach Kieran McKenna, Ipswich achieved back-to-back promotions, earning widespread acclaim.

Throughout the 2023/24 season, Ipswich consistently occupied the Championship’s top six, spending most of the time in the automatic promotion spots. Although a challenging April threatened their position, Leeds’ dip in form allowed Ipswich to reclaim second place.

While Leicester City ultimately claimed the league title, Ipswich achieved their goal of returning to the Premier League after a 22-year absence.

Leeds must now regroup for the playoffs, facing Norwich City in a two-legged semi-final, with the winner advancing to meet either Southampton or West Bromwich Albion at Wembley.
