Mahrez’s professional career started in France, where he was a youth player for AAS Sarcelles. He turned professional with Quimper in 2009 before moving to Le Havre, where he spent three years progressing from the reserve squad to the first team.
In January 2014, Mahrez signed with Leicester City, helping them secure the Championship and promotion to the Premier League in his first season. During the 2015/2016 season, he earned the Algerian Footballer of the Year Award, PFA Players’ Player of the Year, and a spot in the Premier League PFA Team of the Year, while leading Leicester City to the Premier League title.
Mahrez joined Manchester City in 2018 and quickly made an impact, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup in his debut season. Over his time with City, he added four more league titles, one FA Cup, two EFL Cups, and a UEFA Champions League title in the 2022/2023 season.
Born in France, Mahrez began his international career with Algeria in 2014, competing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and participating in five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, winning the 2019 championship. He was named CAF’s African Footballer of the Year in 2016.
Currently, Mahrez plays for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.
