According to reports, Sergeant Abosele Akhere of the Edo State Police Command was shot and killed by police Inspector Jonathan Okouromi.

Sergeant Abosele Akhere made the arrest of a well-known cultist and main suspect in cult-related operations during the operation. He went by the name “Raggae.”
Inspector Jonathan Okouromi fired a shot from the back of Akhere without warning, simply lifting his gun and pressing the trigger. No one knew why he did that or what had happened. He simply let him go behind his back. The victim started bleeding as soon as he fell, a trustworthy source told PUNCH Metro over the phone.
PUNK According to Metro, the event happened on Sunday night at around nine o’clock in the Ikponwosa/Egban community in the Egor Local Government Area of Edo.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that the shot officer was taken to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital and that the attending physician declared him dead there.
Apparently, the aforementioned Inspector Okouromi “ran away with his gun the moment he realized he had shot his junior colleague to death.”
Additionally, Reggae, the alleged cultist who had been apprehended, managed to flee, but Mr. Agbontaen Monday, an Eiye fraternity member, was placed under arrest.
While the body of the slain police sergeant was placed at the mortuary while the investigation proceeded, it was learned that the police in Ugbowo division were still looking for the evading Inspector Okouromi.
Chidi Nwabuzor, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, claimed to be on vacation when he was reached.
“I’m on vacation right now. He told our correspondent over the phone, “I’ll get the details when I get to the office tomorrow.”
