The recently ended Kogi State governorship election was free, fair, and credible, according to Prof. Dani Adam, the Independent National Electoral Commissioner National Commissioner overseeing Kogi, Kwara, and Niger states.
Adam gave a speech on Friday at the INEC state head office in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, during the presentation of the Certificate of Return to the governor-elect, Ahmed Ododo, and his deputy, Joel Oyibo.
He claimed there was sufficient information to draw the conclusion that the election was credible, free, and even verifiable by everyone.

Furthermore, Dr. Gabriel Longpet, the Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, stated that “declaring Ododo and Oyibo the governor-elect and deputy governor-elect respectively was the best thing to do” and that “there was no doubt about the credibility of the election.”
In order for the people to benefit from democracy, he urged the remaining candidates to show good sportsmanship and work together with the incoming governor and deputy governor.
