Aunty mi, you are an inspiration to me and many others….and we love you munchos… “Continue to push the envelope.” Ini Edo said this in the comments section of Mo Abudu’s recent Instagram post, where she brags about her latest accomplishment: a New York Times article with the headline “Mo Abudu isn’t waiting for permission.”
“Hello beautiful people,” Mo Abudu said on Instagram in the early hours of morning, September 25, 2021, making the major announcement. About a year ago, New York Times writer Etan Smallman (@nytimes) reached out to me, and we did our first interview on a park bench in London. Etan has been tracking the EbonyLife Story for over a year and has completed this story. This indicates how long it takes them to fact-check an article. Thank you so much to @nytimes and everyone who was interviewed for this article. Ben Amadasun, Netflix’s Director of Content Africa, and Lola Shoneyin, writer and author of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, are among those questioned.
The piece was published online yesterday, September 23, 2021, and will be printed in the New York Times on Sunday. I’m looking forward to seeing this in print. Please make sure you get a copy of this in print if you’re a New Yorker!
This article includes the following sections: The New York Times dispatched a correspondent photographer to Lagos a few weeks ago to photograph me at EbonyLife Place. Scroll down to see this as well as extracts from the article.
As you all know, I don’t have the authority to tell @nytimes what to headline with, and you don’t even get to see the piece before it gets to print, thanks to the tight code of ethics that journalism at such prestigious institutions follows. But I have to admit, the headline is very appropriate and meaningful to me right now.
MO ABUDU DOESN’T NEED PERMISSION”
Thank you for sharing my narrative, the story of the EbonyLife Group, and the necessity of telling African stories with the New York Times.”
Mo Abudu was dragged on social media earlier this week for her purported love relationship with Lagos governors and other top-tier Nigerian politicians.
This was revealed by Instagram blogger Gistlovers, who chronicled the media personality’s sexual exploits with former Lagos state governors.
Despite the fact that Mo Abudu has not responded to the charges, she has taken to Instagram to praise herself as a clever, beautiful, and courageous woman.
Good morning, lovely individuals, she wrote. Be audacious. Be a BEAUTIFUL person. Be a BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILL “But you, Lord, are my brightness, my shield, the One who lifts my head high.” 3:3 – Psalm 3.”
