Witnesses and law enforcement personnel involved in the rescue effort stated that the victims’ bodies were punctured by the rod, resulting in their instantaneous death. They also mentioned that the vehicle had to be shattered in order to extract the deceased family members.
Police from the Ikeduru Local Government Area Division had placed the dead in a morgue as of the time this story was submitted.
The driver of the Sienna car struck the stationary truck, which was parked at the side of the road, according to Lucky Ahiole, the Chief Superintendent of Police who oversees the Divisional Police Officer for the Ikeduru Local Government Area.
Ahiole exclaimed, “It’s awful.” We have carried the eight deceased to a morgue. To remove the deceased bodies, we had to smash the Sienna car. Even the children perished after the rod entered their bodies and eyes.
The tragedy may have been avoided, according to the eyewitness, if the stationary truck carrying rods hadn’t been obstructing the route.
