Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann has urged Bayern Munich to dismiss manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of their Champions League encounter with Arsenal.

Bayern suffered a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund last weekend, pushing them 13 points adrift of Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Following the loss, Tuchel conceded that the title race was effectively over, with only seven fixtures remaining.

Hamann believes Bayern should make the managerial change sooner rather than later, emphasizing that the club’s best interests should be the priority.

“It’s not about Thomas Tuchel or Max Eberl, Harry Kane or Joshua Kimmich, it’s about Bayern Munich,” Hamann expressed to Sky90. “You are among the eight best teams in Europe, and if Bayern play to their potential, they have a strong chance of advancing against Arsenal.

“This [Arsenal] is a good team, but still relatively inexperienced at this level. In my opinion, Bayern must consider whether the current setup is the best for progression against Arsenal.

“The management needs to contemplate if sticking with Tuchel for the final stretch of the league and Champions League is the optimal decision. They should seriously consider bringing in a new coach for the remaining weeks. There are several options available. Mourinho comes to mind. Regardless of opinions about Mourinho, the players admired him at Chelsea. He’s an exceptional professional.”
