A female student pursuing a Higher National Diploma at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in Kwara State, is said to have been fatally hacked by unidentified individuals.

The girl, named as Food Technology Department student Toyin Bamidele, was allegedly killed by hacking on Thursday in her leased residence off campus.

On Friday, Mrs. Folake Oyinloye, the acting head of the institution’s public relations unit, confirmed the alleged murder to PUNCH Online.

“The management condemns this inhumane act in strong terms, as it is strange in the polytechnic community,” stated Oyinloye, confirming that the management has started an inquiry into the murder in collaboration with security agencies.

“Although the incident’s circumstances are still unknown, the relevant security agencies are actively conducting investigations to identify the evil occurrence and, urgently, to find the perpetrators.”

Her passing has left the Polytechnic’s management and staff in irreparable mourning.

“The Department of Food Technology, her family, and friends are all deeply saddened by the loss, and the management strongly encourages anyone with relevant knowledge about this incident to come forward and speak with Security Agents.

“The management prays to God to give her eternal rest, peace in her soul, and support for her family during this difficult time.”

As of the time this report was filed, Mr. Victor Olaiya, the State Commissioner of Police, could not be reached by phone, therefore all attempts to get in touch with the police were unsuccessful.
