Jolly Nyame, the previous governor of Taraba State, pledged to manage his state more skillfully if given the chance to do so again.

Nyame made the promise on Thursday during a Thanksgiving service held at the state capital of Jalingo, at the Christian Association of Nigeria secretariat.

After being found guilty of fraud in 2018, the former governor, who claimed to have learned a lot from his time behind bars, was given a presidential pardon by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.

Out of a 14-year sentence, he only completed four years.

He said that his time in prison had taught him priceless lessons, but he also counseled leaders to persevere in the face of difficulties.

“While I was in the hospital and Kuje Prison, I learned a lot.” He said, “I will perform better if I have another chance to lead the people of Taraba State because of the experience I have gained.”

On May 17, 2018, Judge Adebukola Banjoko of the Federal Capital Territory’s High Court in Gudu, Abuja, sentenced the former governor to 14 years in prison for criminal breach of trust and misuse of N1.64 billion in state funds.

Nonetheless, he claimed in an interview with The Punch in December 2022 that the presidential pardon he received had vindicated him by former president buhari .
