Based on reliable information, soldiers from 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch claimed to have eliminated terrorists and retrieved weapons, ammo, and other supplies.

In a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna, it was revealed that on November 12, 2023, in the general vicinity of the Maro-Chibiya forest in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the troops came across terrorists and eliminated one of them.

He added that during the mission, forces came into touch with bandits, engaged them with a high volume of fire, neutralized one of the bandits, and forced the remaining criminals to scatter into the nearby woodland, bleeding from bullet wounds. He continued by saying that the soldiers had taken four pieces of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, one cell phone, one AK-47 rifle, and one locally made AK-47 rifle.

In a similar vein, on November 10, 2023, he reported that during yet another clearance operation in the villages of Kawara and Filin Jalo in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the Division’s troops and Operation Whirl Punch came into touch with bandits at Kawara woodland. Following the gunfight, soldiers were able to neutralize one bandit and find an AK-47 weapon that was loaded with thirty 7.62mm (Special) rounds.

Similarly, in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops of the Division carried out clearance operations at Mai-Kulu-Gwanda, Rafin Gora, Funtua Badadi, and Kabawa villages. A motorcycle and a Boafeng radio were taken by the troops, and one bandit was neutralized.

On Monday, November 13, 2023, the troops conducted another clearance operation in the general area of Juji and Telele-Kaso in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State as part of the ongoing campaign against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements in the country’s northwest.
