It was reported that his assassins made sure he was dead before leaving the area.

According to one of the sources, there has been a death at the PDP headquarters in the Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze ward of the Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area. He was shot dead by gunmen who asked to see him in front of his wife.

The PDP in the state is now experiencing an uneasy calm as a result of the development. The party chairman who was killed was lively. There was no known reason for his death.

Lancelot Obiaku, the state’s PDP Director General for New Media, confirmed the killing when contacted.

But he demanded that the suspects who were running be taken into custody and tried.

Henry Okoye, the state police spokesperson, claimed not to have received a briefing on the killing.

However, he stated that he would look into the matter and get back to our correspondent; as of the time this report was filed, he had not done so.

Earlier in February, the PUNCH reported that Charles Oke, the PDP chairman in Ogbaku ward, was shot by gunmen in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the same state.

According to our correspondent, Oke was shot at 8:59 p.m. by assailants who had gotten inside his home by scaling the building’s fence.

“The PDP chairman was shot in his home by gunmen who were waiting for him in his compound,” a community source said.

He attempted to enter his home after setting off the alarm, but he was shot in the leg. After scaling the fence, the assailants quickly fled.
