Two suspects, Emeka Fidelis and Sochima Okpara, have been taken into custody by the Enugu State Police Command after weapons and ammunition were discovered in their respective possession in the Ogbeke Nike and Trans-Ekulu Area of Enugu.
Daniel Ndukwe, the state command’s spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Ndukwe claims that while performing their responsibilities, members of the Unity Police Division and Crack Squad Tactical Team arrested the suspects and took the dangerous weapons from them in various parts of the state.

He declared, “Police officers from the Enugu State Command’s Unity Police Division and Crack Squad Tactical Team have apprehended two male individuals and taken two firearms with eight rounds of live.9 mm ammunition from them.”
Thus, on December 17, 2023, at approximately 5.45 p.m., the Unity Police Division agents, acting on reliable information, apprehended a 28-year-old man named Emeka Fidelis in Ogbeke Nike and found a double-barrelled revolver that had been illegally carried by him.
Similarly, on December 16, 2023, at roughly 3.30 a.m., members of the Crack Squad detained 37-year-old Sochima Okpara while he was doing a normal patrol job at Trans-Ekulu, Enugu. From him, they seized a Beretta handgun that was loaded with eight rounds of live.9 mm ammunition. According to the preliminary inquiry, the suspect is the head of the Apache Tiger fraternity, popularly known as “Two-two,” and has a history of criminal activity in the Enugu city.
The spokesperson added that the suspects will be charged and put on trial after their investigations were finished, and that Kanayo Usuegbu, the Commissioner of Police, has reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the public.
The cases are still under discreet investigation, and when the investigations are over, the suspects will be charged and put on trial.
Meanwhile, the command has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding tight security over the Yuletide season and beyond, according to Commissioner of Police CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+).
