23 people have been detained by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command on suspicion of participating in rape, “one-chance” syndicates, and armed robberies in December.
This was said by Police Commissioner Haruna Garba on Friday in Abuja during the suspects’ parade.
“From the first of December until now, the command has arrested nine ‘one-chance’ suspects, twelve armed robbery suspects, recovered five stolen vehicles, five firearms, and twelve rounds of ammunition,” stated Garba.

You will remember that exactly one month ago, on November 28, 2023, the command detained 11 “one chance” suspects, seven suspected kidnappers, and/or informants. They also found three stolen cars, five guns, thirty rounds of ammunition, neutralized one kidnapper, and paraded 43 suspects in all.
Abigail Christopher and two other individuals reported, on December 25, at approximately 11:13 p.m., to a group of Gwarimpa Division police officers on stop and search duty at Third Avenue, that they were being followed home from an event by a group of thugs totaling approximately five, who robbed them of their phones and other valuables. The victims were tracked down at the spot by the police officers who immediately took action.
Five armed thugs broke into an apartment behind a church at Lugbe Extension along Airport Road on December 25, at around two in the morning. The unit was occupied by two women (names withheld).
The two women were gang-raped by the thugs, who also took their cell phones and other belongings. One of the stolen phones was discovered during an investigation, and John Moses was quickly taken into custody.
Four more individuals were apprehended after his arrest. Following the inquiry, they will all be arraigned in court having admitted to the crime.
