According to a police officer who spoke with PUNCH Online on Saturday, an unidentified trailer driver has apparently fallen off the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway bridge between Berger, Lagos State, and Isheri, Ogun State.
The front of the trailer was reported to be hanging off the edge of the bridge after it collided with the bridge.
The accident happened early on Saturday morning, the police officer who spoke with our correspondent anonymously said.

He did point out, though, that as of the time this report was filed, the accident’s cause was still unknown.
When our correspondent went to the accident scene, he saw that men from the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigerian Police Force were there to keep the free flow of traffic and security of lives and properties.
Preliminary investigations showed that the driver fell off the bridge as a result of the accident, according to the policeman who said he had just arrived at the scene.
“We arrived here approximately ten minutes ago (8:00 am), and we have heard that the driver fell off the bridge,” he stated. That’s the current information that we possess.
“We don’t know what caused the accident, we don’t know where the driver was going, and we don’t know if there were any casualties yet,” he continued.
Nevertheless, attempts to contact eyewitnesses were fruitless because no one was prepared to comment on what caused the collision, where the driver was, or whether any people were hurt.
On January 2, two separate crashes on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on New Year’s Day resulted in two fatalities and ten injuries.
Two people died and three others were injured in the single crash that happened at around 8 a.m. on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Isara Remo, the headquarters of Remo North Local Government Area in Ogun State.
The bodies were placed in the morgue of the Isara General Hospital, while the injured victims were transported to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical treatment.
