Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted he was never a fan of former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, stating he wouldn’t have wanted a player like Ramos on his team.
Klopp, who led Liverpool to a Champions League title, had his share of tough encounters with Ramos and Real Madrid, including a painful 3-1 loss in the 2018 Champions League final. In that match, Ramos was heavily criticized for a tackle on Mohamed Salah that left the Liverpool star with a shoulder injury, forcing him off the field in the 30th minute.
Reflecting on Ramos, Klopp, as quoted by MARCA (via Football Espana), remarked, “If you see him again and you’re not from Real Madrid, you think he’s ruthless and brutal.”

He continued, “If you review all of Ramos’ actions—I’ve watched football since I was five—you’ll see a lot of questionable incidents. In a situation like the one with Salah, someone should judge it better.”
Klopp added, “Is Sergio Ramos really a good guy? He’s not my favorite player. The action was brutal. While he couldn’t know it would hurt Salah’s shoulder, he certainly didn’t mind. I could never understand that mentality. I never had players like that, and when I did, I made sure they didn’t stay.”
