I never believed Sir Alex Ferguson wanted me at Manchester United – Ji-sung Park

Park Ji-sung, a cult figure at Manchester United, has shared his experience of learning that the club was interested in signing him.

The midfielder joined for $4 million from PSV in 2005 and went on to win four Premier League championships and one Champions League trophy.

When he learned that Sir Alex Ferguson wanted him to sign with the Red Devils, he was in amazement.

“I heard Manchester United was interested in me,” Park remarked. But I told my agent, “Don’t even make fun of me!” I couldn’t believe it, so I simply laughed. I refused to believe it.

He informed me, “Sir Alex is waiting for your call,” as I was returning from the game.

Since my English wasn’t very excellent at the time, I was pretty terrified to answer the phone.

Recall that recent statistics indicate that Manchester United is the only English side still in the running for four titles this year: the Premier League, the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup, and the Europa League.
